Homemade Hostess Cupcakes

The kids have a great time making these!

Homemade Hostess Cupcakes

3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
½ c. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. oil
1 c. milk
1 c. hot water
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients together and fill muffin tins lined with cupcake papers. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes.

Fill with Cream Filling:

2 c. powdered sugar
4 Tbsp. margarine
3 Tbsp. milk
4 Tbsp. shortening
dash of salt

Beat until creamy. Put into pastry bag fitted with a large writing tip and fill cupcakes from the top. Frost by dipping tops in frosting. Frosting hides the hole where cupcakes were filled.

Frosting:

½ c. margarine
4 Tbsp. cocoa
6 Tbsp. milk

Bring to boil. Remove from heat; add 2 cups powdered sugar. Beat. Add 1 tsp. vanilla.

Oh, so yummy!

We love making these. They always taste better the day after for some reason. Maybe it is because the ones you buy at the store sit on the shelf for so long.
