Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

You are here: Home / Family Life / Farming / The many faces of Mr. FR

The many faces of Mr. FR

May 3, 2008 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 16 Comments

How perceptive do you think you are? I like to think I have a keen sensitivity to the needs of my husband and children, that I have an acute awareness of all that goes on around me. But the truth is there are some things that occur so often I kind of take them for granted. As I was sorting through the pictures I took of the branding last weekend I noticed something interesting. I had captured some moments that happen quite often but I hardly stop to take notice. They were all taken within the span of two hours last Saturday morning. I present the many “faces” of Mr. Ferrero Rocher.

The Cowboy.

Well, not really. He does not like working cows. Mostly because of some bad injuries that have occurred in the past: split lip almost up to his nose, sliced hand (where I passed out watching the doc stitch him up), being bucked off and drug when his foot got stuck in the stirrup, and getting kicked so hard his whole leg was bruised from his thigh down to his ankle. He’ll cowboy when he needs to but only if he really needs to.

The Vet.
(Notice the uneven upper left lip. That’s the scar from his split lip and his own doctoring. Too much blood to see if he was lining his lip up right before putting the butterfly bandage on.)
The Teacher.

Here Mr. FR is showing Semisweet how to fill the syringe so she can try her hand at giving the calves shots.

The Teacher again.

He was showing the girls how the power meter works.

The Father.
Mr. FR took some time between calves to scoop up Special Dark while he was walking by. I just love this image.

The Comedian.
Did you know that a bright yellow rain slicker is part of a farmer’s wardrobe? The end gun on the pivot needed to be fixed. We all watched as he got drenched, swore a little bit, got drenched some more and finally fixed the end gun. The girls’ comment was, “He’s kind of like Bob Hope!”

The Put-er Upper with my constant clicking.
He hates having his picture taken.

What a great post! I should try to capture the many sides of my dh. He wouldn’t ever let me post it though.

I love the one with your son. So sweet.

I like your new background, too. Are you going to teach us how to make a background like that that doesn’t move when you scroll the text? I’d love to know how. 🙂

That uneven lip is quite charming (especially in the last picture).

Oh, those are great pictures. I love the one of him in the rain slicker…when my dad donned his to fix sprinklers I think that’s when I learned some of my more colorful sayings 🙂

This is such a lovely way to portray a husband. And now I want a yellow slicker outfit. =)

It is amazing how photo’s can document moments in time, and looking at that frozen moment helps us appreciate it more. It’s a powerful medium.

Loved the photo’s, you know I just can’t get enough of the farm life pictures.

BJ sends his condolences, and says he hopes all this media attention won’t give Mr.FR a big head.

This has been my most favorite post you’ve done so far. We don’t give our husbands enough credit, and they are such wonderful… wonderful everythings! Tell Mr. FR thanks for letting us take a peek at his life.
