Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

Dreams of Flying

August 11, 2008 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 6 Comments

Photography is an art. Maybe I should rephrase that. Good photography is an art. I love wasting my time looking through Flickr or Stumbling photography sites . I like to get ideas, see new ways of looking at the world around me, finding out how a different angle can change the meaning or interpretation of a photograph.

For today’s Tuesday Spotlight I’d like to share a fun series of shots taken by Jan Von Holleben entitled Dreams of Flying. Take a good look at the slideshow. There are 30 prints included, every one whimsical. He takes everyday objects and uses them to his advantage to get create the illusion he wants. My children want to try recreating The Wizards. I like the simplicity of Superman and the Balloon Flyer. Please go have fun looking at them all!

My wheels are already spinning on how I can use the same concept and create our family Christmas Card this year. Yes, I’m already thinking about Christmas. I like to get everything completely done by October so I can relax and really enjoy the holiday season. Anyway, back to the Christmas card. I’m thinking maybe some shepherds with sheep and angels or even the whole nativity scene. Heaven knows I have enough children for that. Or maybe a Santa Claus similar to the one Mr. Von Holleben did.

What do you think? What holiday scenes could I create using all of my children?

I think the trick is the look on the kids faces. The bike picture #4 is believable because the middle kid looks intent on flying over the others. You take such wonderful pictures – I can’t wait to see what you do with this.

I am so recreating the Santa Clause this year with my kids! Thanks for the great link. I enjoyed them all. The dog rider was a favorite. Maybe because our kids spend an awful lot of time trying to ride our poor beagle.
