Heidi’s Wordfull Wednesday: Giving

November 14, 2008 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 5 Comments

Heidi wrote a beautiful post for Wordfull Wednesday: Giving. Her blog is private, however, so we weren’t able to read it. With her permission I am posting it here for you all to read. Leave her some love in the comments, will ya? 😀

“A couple of friends have been posting Wordfull Wednesday’s and I decided I would give it a try. It is with not a little trepidation that I approach the assigned topic of GIVING. Because I am home more than not, I decided to focus my observations on what I saw within my home. It was an opportunity to focus on what we were doing right, rather than on what we could do better. I suppose that this change in focus is a gift in itself.

“As a mother, I love to watch my children give to each other. I’ve been watching this week and these are a few of the things I saw them give to one another. Malia gave Olivia and Samantha an adventure when she let them sleep with her. Linnea, Julianna, Samantha, and Olivia gave Parker a smile this week as they accosted him with hugs and kisses when he came upstairs before leaving for school. Parker gave Julianna safety by walking her to basketball practice. Linnea gave Julianna praise for being ready to leave for school on time. Malia gave Olivia love when she became upset when David and I were leaving.

“I also notice what my children give me. Hugs, kisses, compliments (“You’re the best mamma in the world” – Samantha), help cleaning the house, doing dishes, being obedient, not fighting. The list could go on and on.

“Heavenly Father has given me so much, that I honestly feel at times that “my cup runneth over.” He gave me a loving family to raise me with the Gospel. He has given me my wonderful husband which is a gift I receive over and over again each day we spend together. He has given me my 6 children that give me purpose and joy. Heavenly Father has given me EVERYTHING and for that I am grateful.

“As I have watched the giving exchanges within my home, I have gained a greater understanding that it is within my home’s walls that the greatest of life’s gifts are bestowed. As I see the joy my children feel when they do something for someone else it makes the troubles of the world dissolve and allows me to focus on the greatest of gifts, my family. I was glad for the topic in this Wordfull Wednesday to make giving the focal point of my week. “

Thanks Heidi!

This has been a great reminder for me to look for the positive, especially when the negative can stick out like a sore thumb. Thank you for this wonderful post! By the way-we’re related! My mom is a Wadsworth (Valerie). I was directed to your cute blogs by Aunt Charlotte.

That is a great post! Thank you for the reminder that of all the people to give to, our family is the most important. I will have to pay more attention now to ways we are all giving in our home.

Great post! So glad it was shared here so all of us could read it. I like how Heidi watched the goings on within her own family and noticed all of the giving that was taking place….how very cool is that!! We give to others daily whether we know it or not.

    Heidi,
Thank you for sharing this. I am going to watch my children this week and see the giving. I, too, am home more than not. Thanks for helping me see the positive again after a busy, crazy week.
