I ♥ Faces Adults: Week 7 Black & White

February 24, 2009 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 21 Comments

There’s something timeless about black and white photos, especially the ones of people. Details you fail to notice in color seem to stand out when an image is stark black and white. Maybe its the contrasting colors.

The farmer

This photo of my father-in-law (he’s gonna die, or rather I’m gonna die, when he finds out!) was taken last summer using my zoom lens. There is no way I’d be able to get this close of a shot if he knew I was right there taking his picture. The men were gathered around a pickup discussing some farming plans. My father-in-law has this habit of chewing on his lower lip when he’s thinking about something, which is what he is doing here.

Visit I ♥ Faces Week 7 to find more links to some really fabulous black and white photos of adults. Some of my favorites are here, here, and here.

Love your blog. And I love the entry you’ve chosen, how the textures on his face is well defined – perfect for a black and white conversion.

Fabulous photo. I am cracking up over your fear of dying when he finds out. It’s a great picture. He should be proud. (and you, too!)

I love candid portraits. They seem to say so much about their subject and black and white makes the subjects character really stand out. This picture definately tells a story.

His face has a story to tell… I love the faces of the older generation…always have. Great picture.
p.s. we got the crayola wrap pack thingy, and the caboose loves it! What a clever idea! She used it at church, and not once did we have to chase a crayon under the pew!
    Thanks!

I love this picture…it tells stories of so many of the people I’ve known all my life.

What problem can’t be solved “gathered around a pickup discussing” with family and neighbors?

What I LOVE about this picture is exactly what the Judge said. It is a picture of every man! Very perfect portrait. It reminded me of my Daddy.

CONGRATULATIONS! As other noted, such a timeless image. And it really is incredible the light you captured in his eyes with a zoom and under the bill of a hat! Tremendous!

Unbelievably great photo. I envy your talent! The grittiness, texture, detail, contrast (oh how I LOVE contrast in a portrait!) are all amazing. Congrats on your well deserved win. Wow!
