This week has been crazy busy. I haven’t had time to stop for more than a few minutes at a time. And with the time change I’m really feeling run down by the end of each day. It’s a good thing my brother’s coming to visit for the weekend. We could really do with some fun around here!
I’ve been sewing handbags galore. Art Adventures, an art school in Vermont, contacted me through Etsy with an offer to sell my handbags in their gift shop. I’m very excited. I just have a few more and then I can send the package off to them.
My Epson 3800 printer was giving me trouble this week. Right when I needed to print out some orders from my other Etsy shop. Turns out I just needed to clean the nozzle heads. Thank goodness that’s all it was! There are 9 ink cartridges in this thing – four of them different blacks – so I’m glad the solution was so easy. It only took me about two hours to figure it out. Ugh.
Sunday we had Stake Conference. Mr. Ferrero Rocher was able to ride to church and back with us. Reminded us of the times before he was bishop and we were able to spend our Sundays together. It was nice.
Despite what I said in my first paragraph, the girls and I have been doing some fun things. Making chapstick to restock our supply, cooking mini watermelons (recipe on Saturday), finalizing our plans for the garden, planting peas, and rather enjoying the fact that the sound on our TV went kaput so there is actually some quiet in the house throughout the day even with seven children roaming around.
We are in the midst of converting our family room/school room into a sewing/craft room. We do almost all of our school around the kitchen table so we are doing a switcheroo between the fabric closet upstairs and the cabinets holding the books downstairs. The sewing room will get a new coat of paint, possibly a cheery yellow, and the cabinets will also get painted. This is all in preparation for the new addition that we will be building onto our house sometime this year. I am so excited about it! I’ll be getting a new kitchen and dining room 24 ft. x 30 ft. YES!!! Right now I’m planning out the kitchen cupboards and am heavily leaning towards no upper cabinets so we can have lots of windows. There will be some open shelves to show off some “decorations” and the colorful dishes I hope to begin accumulating. There’s also going to be a HUGE center island where the sink and stovetop will be housed. These cabinets will be a different color from the ones against the wall, either a blue or green. Anyway, nothing is set in stone yet, but that’s where my likes are taking me right now.
Mr. Ferrero Rocher had a close call today. The men have been fixing up one of our shops, putting in insulation, new doors, and windows. Mr. FR was welding one of the doorframes when the paper on the insulation on the other side of the metal caught fire and quickly travelled up the wall. Only one small section of the ceiling had yet to have insulation applied, right above where the fire was. Luckily the men were able to get the fire out. They are pretty sure if the insulation had been on the ceiling the whole shop would have gone up in flames. Small instances of Divine Providence do happen!
So glad he’s alright. Your new kitchen sounds wonderful. Things are really hopping for you right now.
After taking 2 years off of all lessons/activities, my kids are back in the swing of things once again. I’ve gone through two tanks of gas this week – it usually takes me three weeks to do that. But it’s nice to get back to some semblance of normal. Enjoy your busyness. 🙂
How exciting that your bags will be in a real-live shop! And your plans for expansion sound like fun. I sometimes get a hankering to re-decorate something. But in my small house in a small subdivision, I have to settle for re-painting a bathroom or something.

Sounds like you have had a busy, but very exciting week. I’m so glad everyone is safe! What a wonderful blessing. And congratulations on your hand bag order. That is way cool. Your reorganizing must be very nice, and I have to say that your future kitchen sounds PERFECT! My kitchen right now is way too small. Someday it will be much, much bigger. Just not yet. I really like your ideas. I hope you’ll share a few pictures when it’s all done.
I had a beautiful kitchen long ago, when we lived on our tiny farm. It had only one upper cabinet and oddles of windows. I loved it and would opt for it again if I could. It was easier for small children to help with the dishes with everything on lower shelves. I loved the sunshine in the gloomy NW US.
On another note–I was checking out at Walmart today and noticed the Ferrero-Rocher or however you spell it. I seriously thought this was your last name until I saw the candy. I laughed right out loud. Thanks!

Wow! I am so excited about your addition – everything you have thought out sounds perfect. You cannot have too many windows! Looking back, I wish I had scoured KSL.com for cabinets and other building supplies. There are such fantastic bargains from people redecorating. I’m jealous of your pea planting, and bet there are lots of little birds looking for nests in your orchard. Say hi to your girls.
