Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

You are here: Home / Two Bedrooms are done!

Two Bedrooms are done!

September 30, 2009 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} Leave a Comment

Two of the girls’ bedrooms are finally done! We did all the painting, installed new carpet and have moved all their furniture in. The third bedroom will done today (Thursday) and it looks very cool. Here’s the finished paint jobs. I didn’t take any before pictures because they were just white walls.

The first room we did was Truffle’s and Cookie’s bedroom. They just wanted green walls with bright colored dots towards the top. Easy enough! They inherited the bunk beds we already have.

The second room completed was Semisweet’s and Brownie’s. It is more sophisticated and took a bit longer because of the subtle stripes and stenciling.

S&M 01

To do the stripes we painted the base coat of Fable green with an eggshell finish. Didn’t even bother to cover up the old yucky carpet. =)

Then we taped off four inch stripes six inches apart. We used two inch wide painter’s tape so it was easy to tape and measure. Then we painted the exposed six inch wide stripes with Fable green paint in a high gloss finish. The stripes are the exact same color just different sheens.

The part above the chair rail was painted a cream color and then we stenciled the fern-like design with a color two shades darker. The girls love it. Above the window frame we are going to put a vinyl saying, “Walk tall, you’re a daughter of God.” Looks good, no?

Wait until you see the argyle room tomorrow! Now all we need is to sew up all those quilts for their beds. I’m hoping to have the tops done by the end of October so an old friend in Fallon can quilt them with her quilting machine and we can bind them to give to the girls at Christmas.

Last room to do is Special Dark’s and the baby’s. We’re just setting up the crib and twin bed. That room is yellow so it’ll work for either a boy or girl since we don’t know the gender of the baby.

Whew! Now this baby can come anytime. We are ready!
