Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

Good Things to Come

June 17, 2010 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 7 Comments

Ever had one of those days?

How about several in a row?

Yeah, me too.

Yesterday was one of those days. Instead of complaining* about it to you (like you want to hear me whining) I’ll share this video that helped me to keep the day in perspective.

STOP! If you don’t want to read my complaints. ☺
* The major headache was having no water for most of the day. Laundry and dishes are definitely backed up now!
* Worried about Mr. FR who was up at 1 am baling hay and worked all day – just like his brothers did – on only a couple of hours sleep.
* Hated to mention to Mr. FR about the water. Waited several hours before calling him.
*Grateful to have a handy-man husband (and brothers-in-law) who had it fixed before the end of the day.
*Minor Headaches included: having to drive children to the bunk house to use the facilities (water was out remember?), covering the garden because it supposed to freeze (what?!), going without a shower (wanna smell?), kids going without baths (wanna smell again?), finished reading my stack of library books (now what am I going to read?).

♥Good things I remembered to remember:
♥ Silly girls who definitely inherited their father’s sense of humor (Look at all the baler droppings!)
♥ A son who will sing the theme song to “Savage Sam” one minute and “All We Like Sheep” from Handel’s Messiah the next.
♥ My wonderful, hard working Mr. FR
♥ Crocheted a baby boy hat since I couldn’t do laundry or dishes
♥ A mug of hot chocolate – it’s still chilly at night!
♥ Elder Holland’s words of encouragement “Some blessings come soon, some late and some don’t come until heaven… But for those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ they come…”

Here’s to a different – and cheer filled – day!

Good things to come in my camp: Family coming to visit in a few weeks…just need to get ready for them.

Also…I’m looking forward to your project in September…trying to figure out how I can help…did you get my email? No worries if you’re too swamped. I just love brainstorming!

Oh…days like that work their magic on our gratitude for boring ‘ole “regular” days don’t they? So here’s to fresh running water, cheers!

Speaking of library books, we haven’t had a “Cocoa highly recommends THIS book” post in a while. You know…something to do in all your free “regular” time 😉

I watched this yesterday as well after some complaints that sound much like yours…only they were mine! 🙂

What a beautiful message and so worth the 4 min out of our lives to remember what there was to be thankful for.

(also, loved the cleansing cry during it!)

LOL … how does that song go, “Memories sweeten through the years just like wine.” Since I can’t stand t the smell of wine, I took this with a grain of salt.

I confess, I am envious of you and your life sometimes. We lived in N AZ for ten years on “Nuts Barely Farm”. The Mr. was nuts for letting me barley farm the place. I had up to 1/2 acre gardens using nothing but child labor and an old Craftsman rototiller. Those buff days are long gone.

Anyway, I used beg my hubby for an outhouse for when the pump went down. I can to relate to your day. My funny husband didn’t see much of a problem, since he was at work all day and hauled some 5-gallon jugs of water for me at lunch and the end of the day. Yes, he still lives in that strange little world a lot.

Now I am gardening in a couple of small flower beds and trying to build above ground beds in the back yard, due to caliche, the world’s hardest clay. Only jack hammers can get through it!

BTW. I plan to make those little butter churns with the grand kids to day and will post the pics on my blog . . sometime soon 😉 I take short trips to that strange little world of my hubby’s these days.

No water? Wow, that might do me in. I’m glad you got it running again. Good luck with the baling (at least he got a shower, right?) and enjoy going to the library to get more books.
