Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

You are here: Home / A little bit of this, a little bit of that

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

Do you have certain kids who are just big whiners when they are sick? This little guy is not one of them. Seriously he is such a trooper! He had a stomach virus two nights ago. I could hear some strange coughing from the baby monitor and ran into his room. He was standing next to his bed and said “I’m sorry, Mama, I threw up.” After getting him and the bed cleaned up we spent the rest of the night in the living room on the couches. Before each ‘episode’ he’d call “Mama, Mama! I need help.” It was so sweet. Especially after the fifth time when he looked at me and said, “I love you , Mama. Thank you for helping me.”  Makes my heart melt!!

While he was sick the rest of the kids spent the time outside building snowmen and a snow fort. Unfortunately these were the only photos I got right after the sun went down. They had a terrific time.

The snow is all melted and it rained today making the dirt roads around here very slick. So the kids made snowflakes to hang up inside the house. We used templates from The Quack Shack (thank you Mrs. O for the link!)

I let my children do all the Christmas decorating this year. They put up a Christmas tree downstairs complete with our collection of ornaments. And then every available surface was used to display my over 20 Nativity Scenes. There are about nine in the living room and kitchen alone. Each bedroom has one, and there is also one on the landing of our stairs. Is it bad that I am still wanting more? Particularly this one. Isn’t it exquisite? If you are ever looking for beautiful unique handcrafted Nativities please shop at World Nativity! Each one is crafted by an artisan from a third world country, the sale of which helps them improve their situation a bit more.

And my 33rd birthday was delightful. Mr. Ferrero Rocher built these beautiful benches. I purposefully had him stain them a different color than the table as I like having mismatched wood. Now we can fit more people around the table without all the extra chairs. He took me to a local Mexican restaurant just because that’s what I wanted. He ordered a Chicken Ceasar Salad while I had a shredded beef chimichanga, beans, red rice – the works. It was delish!

I made these Jane Austen inspired ornaments for the ornament exchange. They shipped out today.

So did my 12 Days of Christmas package for Mamarazzi. I ran to town this afternoon to mail it thinking it was the 10th of December and feeling bad that she would get her package late to start the countdown. Imagine my silly relief when I noticed the actual date on the receipt. Now she’ll get it in plenty of time!

I love nativities too, though my house doesn’t currently have a lot of places to display them. I’m looking forward to browsing around your link!

Oh my goodness, he’s such a sweet boy.

Don’t you love those snowflakes? My kids ask for them every year.

I have that same miniature Nativity set and I love it! My husband and I received it as a gift when we were first married and I refuse to give it up (though I wouldn’t mind getting one that stands out a little better)

Thank you for the links. My boys and I will be making snowflakes all day! (and I can always use more nativities! Especially ones that do such amazing things with their cost.)

As always, thank you for your awesome ideas. I use many of them and am always in awe of your resorces!

(although we have WAY more snow…want some of ours?!)

I love nativities too! i have four and would like more, but try to refrain!! My mother has 8 or so and just decorated with hers.

I just blogged about my seasonal ocd – fixing up the nativities my kids play with! I cant help it! lol.

Nativities can sadly be kinda hard to find in australia. Only a few stores carry them. Kids love to play with my fisher price ones and some kids have NO IDEA what it is! very sad!!

Giggle giggle. I’m a huge whiner when I’m sick – right now I have pneumonia AND a concussion! Whine whine whine. I mostly just think it’s funny 🙂

My mom has over 60 nativities. They drive me insane, but I do admit they’re nice to look at. Thanks for that World Nativity site – maybe I’ll be able to find her another for her collection there 🙂

I, too, love nativities. My younger son latched onto a set that was received as a gift and sets it up in his room each year. It’s very sweet. There is another fair trade type store, Ten Thousand Villages, that offers fair wages to impoverished artisans to help their plight. It’s on line, as well, but their local store is one of my favorite places to shop for gifts.

just got home today and found my package on the kitchen table. my hubz didn’t even tell me it had arrived!

All of the DARLING “brown paper packages tied up with strings” had me singing “Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music.

I have them on my mantle and I cannot wait for the 12th to start opening them!!!

    THANKS!!
