A Couple of Recommended Homeschooling Resources {{and sale!}}

May 13, 2011 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 4 Comments

Blogger was down for most of the day. Blogger users couldn’t post or comment. Which was probably a good thing as we were able to make another big batch of strawberry freezer jam, take photos of new etsy listings, be visited by the bookmobile, mow the lawn, cut and freeze rhubarb from my sister-in-law and make some chocolate chip cookies.

There was no time to get another learning style post up. Instead I wanted to quickly share with you some homeschooling resources we’ve utilized in the past few weeks.

First, CurrClick is having an exclusive Customer Loyalty Spring-it-Forward Sales Event. It’s not being advertised on their site. What type of sale are they having?

Only 50% off hundreds of homeschool resources
and curriculum choices!

Yup. It ends May 20th so there’s still one week to slowly browse through all 120 sales pages. I personally take advantage of these sales to buy lapbooks to use as fun unit studies when we are having our ‘down’ time from school.

I mentioned a while back about wanting to learn more about making my own yogurt and cheese and soap. I gave in an ordered the Homestead Blessings DVDs. I am so glad I did!

I actually just ordered three: Soap Making, Herbs, and Dairy. It has been fun to watch these with my daughters. Now this coming week we will attempt to go beyond watching to actually making a few things like yogurt, cheese, and buttermilk. Wish us luck!

    Wow, what a resource. Can you tell me the difference between lap books and unit study?

    I have a question for you. I was looking at your canning butter page and I plan on doing that. I have lots of butter in my freezer I thought I would use. Can I use that butter even though it was frozen?

    I love your blog. Lots of neat things!!
    Take care,
    Tricia

    @Rebecca, lapbooks are just things you create when doing a unit study. The children gather the information they learned and present them in the form of mini books that are glued to a file folder. You can see examples of some lapbooks others have done here.
