Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

First Wildfire of the Season

July 13, 2011 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 4 Comments

Two days after our Independence Day celebration we had a great lesson on why we didn’t do any fireworks!

Semisweet had just returned from an evening jog when Mr. Ferrero Rocher took off to check the pivots. Within those two minutes of Semisweet returning before Mr. FR left a small brush fire was started. We think something sparked off the powerlines.

The fire started about 3/8 of a mile from our house – with the wind blowing towards our house!

Mr. FR called all his brothers (and one brother-in-law) to come and help. His youngest brother arrived first with a water truck. Thankfully the fastest way to fill it is right at the well next to where the fire started.

Starting to get worried as the wind continues to blow the fire our way.

It really only took a few minutes to fill the water truck. Here it’s shooting it’s first sprays at the fire.

It was rather eerie to see the men walking around the fire. We were far enough away that it looked like they were right in it. My girls were very worried seeing their silhouettes amongst the flames.

Another brother arrives with the loader to scoop dirt on the flames.

Putting out the last of the flames.

Whew! Fire is all out thanks to quick reacting farm boys and their big boy toys. ☺Hopefully this will be the one and only fire to deal with this summer . . . .

Wow. I am so glad everything was alright.

It reminds me of Ree Drummond’s Marlboro Man’s experience with their ranch…only thankfully, your fire was smaller. Yes indeed thankfully!

You are Ree are kindred spirits, right? 😉

Glad that you were able to contain it and everyone was safe. I can only imagine how scary that was…

    So glad everyone is OK.

It is so true that boys (men) have such big toys, good thing that they do. 🙂
