Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

Arise & Shine Forth: 2012 Mutual Theme

February 19, 2012 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 4 Comments

The 2012 *Mutual theme is Arise & Shine Forth, taken from Doctrine & Covenants 115:5.  For Special Dark’s sibling Christmas gift he helped me create this print for Bon Bon to hang in her bedroom.

On the 2012 Youth Theme website there are Strength of Youth videos that not only teach about this year’s theme but also share experiences of other youth throughout the world. One of the videos shared is the theme song for the year called Arise. It is a call to the youth to Arise and be a light to their friends and family.

You can download the song and/or video for free on this page.

Want more? On the Youth Music site there are over fifty wonderful, uplifting songs available to listen to and download, with more being added each week. Many of the songs also have sheet music for those who can play the piano or sing. All for free. We like to leave that page open and let the music play while we go about our work. The music has also been added to our iTunes library so we can listen to the songs wherever we happen to be – in the car, in the tractor, and even on our walks.

Having resources like this to help teach our youth to stay strong in the standards of the Lord is a blessing.

* For those who don’t know the terminology youth ages 12-18 belong to the Young Women or Young Men organizations at church. When referring to them both we just say Mutual – short for the old name from the early 1900’s of Young Men/Young Women Mutual Improvement Association.

I found from reading your comment on Middle Aged Mormon man blog. I love your blog and I love chocolate (far too much.) I am girls camp director for my ward this year. I’m super excited about the theme. This print is goreous. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for the links; especially the music ones. The YM and YW programs just keep getting better. I love the new theme.
