Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

Sick Days

February 16, 2012 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 10 Comments

See this puckered up mouth and those tired, tired eyes?

whiny G

Here’s a better shot of how he’s feeling.

tired sick G

Ganache was fine Tuesday. He acted cranky to let us know he wasn’t feeling well but there were no other symptoms. No runny nose, no cough. 2am Tuesday night he woke up crying with a barking cough and chest congestion. Just. Like. That

Wednesday I tried our pediatrician, even though he doesn’t work on Wednesdays. This is the same doctor who helped so much when Ganache was first born. The nurse called him at home and he said he’d meet me at 10:30. “If Montse says there is something wrong, there’s something wrong.” We love this doctor! Turns out Ganache has croup.

This is how I’ve spent the last two days {well, not the smiling part, the holding the baby part}

only wants mom

Not because nobody is willing to help. All he wants is his mama. All day. All night.

The kids have found other ways to be of help. I came home from the doctor’s to find this sign downstairs where they had cleaned up a very messy craft room.

The older ones have jumped in to make sure Hershey gets the attention she wants/needs.

helpful daughter

And Mr. Ferrero Rocher has taken Ganache the last two mornings, when he is the happiest, for several hours so I can get some much needed sleep. Ganache is feeling much better today already. Thank goodness for good doctors and modern medicine.

Tomorrow’s homeschool post will more than likely be delayed. More important things are being done.

Poor sick baby! I had wondered where you were. Glad he is on the mend and you are getting a little more sleep. Sleep does wonders!

Thank goodness for loving mommies and their warm arms that babies only want when they are sick. I’m so sorry about the croup and the lack of sleep. It’s the pits! I hope everyone is feeling better soon!

He’s so adorable, even when sick! My little guy has been sick for 3 weeks and it’s just so, so sad. I’m glad you’ve got some good helpers too pull in the slack for you!

Molly had an attack like that about Ganache’s age.
We took her into the dr. thinking RSV and he said, “It’s croup. You have 4 children and you’ve never seen croup?!”
I just kind of shook my head, feeling a little more than stupid.
Thankfully this wasn’t my regular dr. 🙂

And no one has ever had it since.

I love you We heart Mom sign. So sweet!
Don’t you just love being a mom to awesome kids.

I knew something was up when you didn’t post for a few days. I am glad to hear he’s feeling somewhat better and that you have an “all hands on deck” krewe there to help. We just finished our round of a stomach bug and it’s wearing. You sleep when you can…life will be there when you recover.

Poor baby! My oldest was hospitalized with croup for three days when he was 16 months. I was VERY thankful for modern medicine. Hope the poor little guy and his mama are getting some rest.
