Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

You are here: Home / Motherhood / There is Sunshine in my Soul Today

There is Sunshine in my Soul Today

April 20, 2012 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 9 Comments

{Taking a cue from my friend who titles her blog posts from lines in music}

What do you do when your children say, “Come play with us, Mom!”

enjoying the sunshine

You obey!

Yesterday {and today} have been gorgeous! We have been soaking up the clear skies and 70-80 degree Spring weather. Next week temps will probably be back in the 40-50 range, this is Northern Nevada after all.

I & J resting

We basked in the sunshine,

crawling race

had crawling races,

crab walk race

crab walk races,

rolling race

rolling races,

wheel barrow race

and wheel barrow races.

We also laughed, enjoyed each others company, and built a memory.

Sometimes the best things really are free…and easy to do.

What have you done with your children lately?

I haven’t been able to crab-walk since I broke my arm when I was 11. Actually I probably could do it if I was in shape but the broken arm thing makes a good excuse.

I actually just tried to teach Toby the wheelbarrow TODAY! He had no idea what I was talking about. Concept was totally beyond him. But he enjoyed having his legs up in the air and laughing like a crazy person. I took him to the park today and he saw a ropes course in the shapes of hexagons today and he goes “THAT IS A HEXAGON.” I just about peed my pants. I didn’t even know he knew what a circle was (yes, I am a parenting slacker!)

I think I’m going to have a hard time getting to the point where I can feel like it’s OK to just drop everything and say “Let’s just play today!” Especially when I’m homeschooling next year. Hopefully after doing it for a while I’ll be able to relax. Looks like a perfect day for play! We’ve just about needed the air conditioning on here in the Mojave desert!

That’s a great way to document just spending time together, such great pictures! We had crazy warm weather today too after a week of cold, went hiking with the boys. Gotta enjoy it before it gets too hot to do anything!

I still have my heat on…!

I am looking forward to the days like these. I love being outside already (just not in shorts and a tee)with my kids and that outside area makes such a great classroom! (even when you are making memories)

How funny… my kids and I were just outside yesterday doing the same thing. I taught them how to do wheelbarrows and they thought I was the coolest mom in the world. I wish I had good pictures like you do– what a treasure to capture those moments.

Thanks for the song shout out! I “quoted” Gloria Estefan today 🙂 We just came in from a backyard fire with marshmellows and smores. We spent the earlier part of the day tending to some yard chores and cooking dirt pies. And moving more stone, of course! Will it ever end……

I haven’t done a crab walk thing in forever… it sort of makes me hurt just looking at the picture actually, I must be getting old.
