My almost 12-year-old son gave me joy today when I cut his hair and he didn’t let out a sound. (usually haircuts are a screaming fest of “you’re murdering me, is it done yet?, just stop!” as soon as the razor turns on. Then he cheered on his brother as he got his hair cut. 🙂

Today I have found joy in being able to take my kids to the zoo with friends thanks to kindness from a friend willing to give us a ride. What is more was being able to hear her story of how the Lord has turned their hearts towards adoption. I also found joy in realizing almost all the items we needed for science this year were available “free” to me on paperbackswap.com. What a blessing.

If I am lucky enough to win this, would you please give the second package away to someone else? I don’t need it for myself but rather just for my friend. Her husband took his own life last week and she has two sweet girls to now care for without the aid of her best friend. She needs joy.

Today, my one-year old had to have a medical test and had to fast for 2 hours prior. When I got to the hospital, they told me the test was at a different hospital, and could be rescheduled for later in the day. After 4 1/2 hours of fasting, you can imagine how he felt. The sweet x-ray tech found some bubbles and helped my little guy be distracted until the test could be done. My other son also began to smile and relax. I feel so grateful for the tech’s thoughtfulness and concern for my very sad little one today.

Today I found new insights in scripture study and am eager to continue to look for more examples.
My sister-in-law has terminal cancer and I was able to visit with her by phone. I was hoping to lift her spirits, and came away with new love and appreciation for her and for my brother for the care he so graciously gives her. She literally finds joy in waking up each day! She is an example of how to savor the little things we often take for granted.
I’ve been sewing a dress for a little granddaughter and am delighted with how totally cute it is going to be! She LOVES to wear dresses, and I can see her twirling to make the skirt ‘be big’!
Thank you for the shared joys from your blog and from the comments.

Finding out my sweet uncle, sent a letter to my estranged brother asking him to come back to our family. I hope it works.

One thing that really brought me joy today was cooking dinner with my daughter. She loves to cook and I am so glad! I am so glad we can do that together! (Oh and I snuck in a quick nap too.)

I got to spend the day with a dear friend who has been away all summer. It was so nice to see her again, even with all of the little ones running around crazy under our feet.

I do daycare. Today the 7yo girl picked up the entire room without being asked! That brings me joy with a wide grin that doesn’t go away.

Talking with friends about the challenges we each face, and knowing we love and support each other. We’re all at different stages of life- the different perspectives of the more mature friends are great. Challenges haven’t changed, but I felt they weren’t so big when I came back to face them. lesliewhitlock at hotmail dot com

I think that finding a humorous way to blog about situations that were making me anxious really helped me find some joy. That and knowing a friend is enjoying a package I had fun putting together 🙂

Joy is listening to siblings playing together and having fun. No fighting.:) Joy is spending a week with beautiful young ladies who teach me things I should do. And Joy is having a husband that has been so helpful with little things around the house.

My greatest joy today was an email from my “only gone three weeks” missionary and playing Uno with his little brothers who sorely miss the “big”. The two are actually one joy because the youngers remind me of the joy of raising the older to this point in his life.

I meant to enter this giveaway Monday when I received it, but time got away from me. I understand if it is closed but I wanted to share my days joy anyway. My greatest joy today came from the hug I received from my 20 year old son. We have had a trying year and a half with him and the decision he made not to accept his mission call hurt, but we have been trying to understand. Today he gave me a hug outside the housing office of our local college he will be attending in a few weeks. It felt like it said, “thanks for understanding and helping me mom.” It meant a lot to me.

Thanks for letting me share. Lisa

My Joy today was watching my kids pick Raspberries together. They seemed so content just having a conversation with one another with out an ill word. It was just beautiful to me watching them work together.

My joy today is my first online sale! And that I have a supportive husband who shipped it for me since I’m out of town. I’m also joyful that the kids and I are having a ball at Grandma’s house. Thanks for spreading the joy 🙂

Writing a letter to my son’s birthmother this morning brought a little joy to my day. I love that I have someone to share all the small things about that make me happy by watching my son learn and grow and she be just as delighted with every little detail. 🙂

My little four-year-old boy giving me his tightest hug and saying, “I’m never gonna let you go!” My nine year old son crawling around on the floor, laughing and chasing his baby sister. My seven-year-old daughter writing every family member a love note for them to find in the morning. My husband singing our kids lullabyes in his tone-deaf way I don’t think any one else could match.
