At first mention of Jason’s name some people have said it doesn’t seem to fit the rest of our children’s names as they are all scriptural. Surprise! Jason is a biblical name. Jason was a Thessalonican who gave refuge to Paul, Silas, and Timothy. Jason was arrested when Paul and Silas could not be found by the Jewish authorities. You can read about Jason in Acts 17:5-9. He is also mentioned in Romans 16:21. Jason means healer.

Jason was born on my dad’s birthday. It seemed only fitting to give him Peter as his middle name. This also follows the trend of our other sons who received an ancestor’s name as a middle name.

The little man and I are doing well. Labor and delivery were quick! I was induced because of gestational diabetes. Pitocin was started at around 7:45am. The doctor broke my water at 10am and Jason made his appearance at 11:02am. He only made a little squawk and then just stared quite serenely at everyone as he got cleaned up and measured.

I must say it is wonderful to have a great husband and older children who can take over so I can just sit and rock the baby and be spoiled by not doing a single thing! I learned after having Cookie {#6} that complete rest for at least a week helps my body recover a lot faster. Taking the time to hold and snuggle and smell my baby, and gaze into his newborn eyes to get just a glimpse at his giant spiritual self, is an experience I don’t want to rush but rather savor to its fullest.

In that last picture of just Jason he looks so much like Ganache!
People are always surprised that Tabitha is a Bible name too.
Another one I like is Jemima but my hubby won’t go for it.
I’m glad you have so many helpers and that you can just sit and enjoy your little one. He’s so sweet- and you look great too!

Congratulations! He is so adorable and Junior Mint is such a cute nickname.

On a side note, I was wondering if you had a relative (maybe brother-in-law) that served a mission around 2002 in Riverside, CA. I remember my husband and I drove an Elder to Indio for his transfer (a long drive in a small truck) and he told us he and his family were alfalfa farmers in Northern Nevada. For some reason I just remembered driving him to Indio the other day and then I wondered if he was a relative of yours. If he isn’t, then disregard this message 🙂

Yes, that was probably my brother-in-law! My husband’s brother served in the Riverside Mission at that time. Small world!

I am from Riverside and he served in our ward, the De Anza ward. My father-in-law was Bishop for awhile (Bishop Rivera), but was released around that time so I am not sure if he would remember us or not. He would probably remember being squished in my husband’s truck for almost 2 hours though. My husband thinks it is so funny that I remember that conversation from so long ago about farming in Nevada, but ever since I was a kid I have wanted to live on a farm so stuff like that registers somewhere in my memory. I also remember that we were impressed with him as a missionary.

Congratulations! And you are so on the ball to have 1) baby pictures already, and 2) have posted them already. At a few days post-birth, I am still on the “good intentions” phase. What am I saying? I’m still there.

I also gave my boys Bible names, but husband and I couldn’t agree on a name for the girl – so she’s Angel. And yes again to the middle names from ancestors. Good tradition!

    Enjoy your baby time!
