Cranial Hiccups

Every once in a while and totally unintentionally my brain spews out a good idea.

You are here: Home / Chocolate Kisses

Chocolate Kisses

July 8, 2013 by Montserrat {Cranial Hiccups} 9 Comments

Ah summer! Where has your first month gone? It seems like you are flying away too quickly. So much to do, so much to experience, and all at double time.

For instance, yesterday was a very important day in history.

VERY IMPORTANT.

Do you know what happened on July 7, 1550?

EUROPEANS DISCOVERED CHOCOLATE!!!

Up until then my ancestors (I’m just guessing they are my ancestors, how could they not be?) kept the joys of chocolate a secret for nearly a millenia. Mmmmmm….what a delicious secret it was too. Dark chocolate is my fave so I know if I were to sit down with an ancestor and have a cup of chocolate like they made it I’d pretty much be in heaven.

Next year I will plan a big celebration with chocolate giveaways and everything. Mark your calendars, I am serious!

And it’s not too late to celebrate on your own. Try mixing up a batch of Mexican Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, or Chocolate Quickies Cookies, or Black Gold Cookies. If you want something cold try Double Chocolate Ice Cream , or Chocolate Super Fudge Brownie Ice Cream , or Magic Chocolate Milkshakes.

The wildfire was put out last Tuesday night thanks to a nice little rain and the determined efforts of the firefighters. Now we have a blackened mountain range to look at.

We started cutting our second crop of hay today. It will take a couple of weeks to put it all up. We are planning on taking a real family vacation as soon as that’s over – driving to Nauvoo, IL and back to visit a bunch of church history sites. That trip will take two weeks. We are all excited! Am I crazy to be looking forward to it even though it means driving with 10 children all in the same vehicle? I don’t know. Ask me when its over and I will be able to tell you with certainty whether I am sane or not.  🙂

At the beginning of summer I tentatively planned a few activities to do with my children. One activity I marked for myself was to “unplug” for the month of July. That means I will be MIA for most of the month. I’m not going to lie. I’m looking forward to it. A deplug is just what I need right now. And a good exercise regimen. The Establish a House series will resume in August. And our yearly Family Proclamation Celebration is coming in September. A lot of fun and good blogging things to look forward too! But for now I’m taking a break with the exception that I will post short bios/interviews with other Young Mothers of the Year from American Mothers.

Until then, I’ll be busy mugging on Junior Mint and listening to his belly-deep laugh. (and maybe losing a few pounds too?)

He is such a cute little chunky monkey!
Losing those extra baby pounds- now that sounds like a good idea! I’ve really gotta work on that myself. Though summer is such a miserable time to do that. Urgh.

So happy to hear about your vacation. We did that when our daughter graduated, too. We drove thru Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Niagra Falls, as well as Palmyra, and Nauvoo. It was a lot of driving, but a trip we still talk about. Cook and freeze as much as you can ahead of time. We have a big ice chest you can borrow, if needed. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

I don’t think your wish of Jr. Mint bridging the gap between Special Dark and Ganache worked. He pretty much is a twin of Ganache!

We are also planning a family vacation. Or should I say an oblication – that’s when you leave your own home and visit relatives who would get their feelings hurt if you didn’t show up. It’s both good and bad.

Enjoy the time off. I may be around less, as well.

What a wonderful vacation you have planned! We made the drive with our 9 three times to see mom and dad. We loved it every time. Great memories all smashed in the car.

Have a great debugging. I know of a co-axle cable that is coming up missing on the TV in my house:)
We took a trip from SLC to Nauvoo and stops in between years ago. A wonderful trip we look forward to doing again. Jr. Mint looks so much like Ganache. Special Dark can be just that “Special, one of a kind”
